Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is recommended for the treatment of various problems that do not involve the inclusion of a spouse, partner, or family member. However, a partner or family member may occasionally join a session for the benefit of education and support.
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Relationships
- Anger management
- Grief and loss
- Self-esteem
- Communication/Conflict
- Divorce recovery
- Boundaries
- Sexual issues
- Co-dependency
- Poor body image
- Stress managment
Pre-marital Counseling
Pre-marital counseling is encouraged to explore the individual expectations and potential problem areas prior to entering marriage. Healthy communication skills, including conflict resolution, will be discussed and practiced. It is recommended that couples enter into pre-marital counseling before or soon after engagement. By attending at least four sessions, couples are provided a certificate that reduces the cost of a state marriage license by $60.
Couple's Therapy
Couples seek counseling for a variety of reasons. Couple’s therapy seeks to improve communication and teach conflict resolution skills. It is most successful when both parties are invested in making the necessary changes to improve the quality of the relationship.
Note: Julie specializes in working with just one partner when the other is unwilling to attend sessions.
Family Therapy
Family therapy focuses on the interactions and relationships between family members, as well as individual personalities. This type of therapy can include one parent and child, both parents and children, or any number of combinations. Family therapy is among the most helpful resources since most people's individual patterns and struggles can be traced back to the family they grew up in (family of origin). Although Julie and Eldon do not work with children on an individual basis, they have found that by working with the whole family a child's issues often improve considerably.
Co-therapy
Julie and Eldon both specialize in working with couples. Co-therapy is simply a couple’s session with two therapists in the room rather than one. Clients find that having a perspective from the opposite gender is benificial to understanding their partner better. These meetings are often scheduled for at least 75 minutes in length and typically yield powerful results. While it is not required that each member be an existing individual client, this is usually the case.
Addiction Therapy
Addiction therapy is a form of treatment that addresses issues specifically related to the process and behaviors associated with addictions or complusions that show up in a variety of forms. The unmanageability of these behaviors eventually results in harm to the individual, couple, and/or family.
- Alcoholism
- Drug Addiction
- Eating Disorders
- Pathological Gambling
- Sexual Addiction/Compulsion
Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is the ancient practice of cultivating one's spirit (psyche) through readings, reflection, discussion, prayer, and various exericises aimed at matters of both immediate and eternal importance. This Center specializes in the practice of Christian formation. Due to the advanced seminary training of each staff member, individuals can expect the highest quality of spiritual care integrated with knowledge of the clinical sciences. Socrates said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." It could likewise be said, "The unexamined faith is not worth having" (Dr. William Collins, Professor of Philosophy, Lipscomb University).
Note: Similar to psychotherapy, fees for spiritual direction are based on a sliding scale and vary depending on family income, size, and circumstances.
Workshops
Workshops vary in topic, length and style. Workshops are a great way to get a lot of information in a brief amount of time. Workshops are structured in such a way that participants are engaged with the material being presented by practicing or doing an activity that shows them how to apply what's being taught. Click on Upcoming Workshops to see what's avaliable.
Body Centered Workshops
In a DoxaSoma workshop, participants are guided through body positions as they listen to what their emotions are trying to communicate to them. Through gentle movement, many find that getting in touch with the emotional and spiritual realm is easier than if they were sitting in a chair.
Personal Development
Personal development coaching is beneficial for individuals who desire improvement in specific areas of their life, such as relationships, career, finances, or lifestyle choices. Typically these areas are not directly related to a personal crisis or mental-health diagnosis.

Process Groups for Clients
Process Groups give people the opportunity to connect with others who are on a similar path. Each participant is screened for group readiness and appropriate placement. Participants will be led through guided imagery, asked to journal, and share if they would like. Participants will learn how to apply techniques used in therapy to everyday life experiences. Interpersonal processing is the portion of the group experience when members speak for their current thoughts or emotions. These processes facilitate intimate and rich connection with others. Participants will also learn tips on how to remain centered with difficult people. Participants can use the group process to help them identify blind spots (i.e., parts of themselves of which they are not aware or with which they may be blended). Process groups meet for two hours, every other week. Contact Julie for more information.
Intensives: Individuals and Couples
Participating in therapy once a week or every other week is the standard frequency of treatment. However, sometimes it is not enough depending on circumstances. Attending therapy in blocks of 3-5 hours may be recommended in certain cases:
- Couples often find it helpful to meet in blocks of time for childcare purposes or other scheduling difficulties.
- Clients who may be traveling far to meet with Julie or Eldon often prefer to meet less often, cutting down on travel time.
- Clients find that when they are in crisis, the lengthened sessions bring more immediate resolve.

Clinicians seeking to learn more about the Internal Family Systems model can invite Julie to use the IFS model with one of their client’s, benefitting them and their client.
